You may have seen a new txt messaging
service set up from the
www.yachtsandyachting.com web site called UTEXTME.
The service has now been running some time
now and has grown in popularity since the start of the America's cup
where we covered all the results to the end, for some 3000+ sailing
fans. The service is now available in a far more content specific and is
now beginning split in to classes, Raymarine Spring Points Series are
using the service to up date on weather forecasts on Sunday morning and
also to announce race cancellations early on Sunday morning (saving a
long drive for some) after the racing is over the days racing results
are sent out to your mobile phone as soon as the results are available,
and then the overall results for the series. Along with this service you
will also receive regular main stream sailing news of interest with the
content being supplied from
www.YachtsandYachting.com
UTEXTME are also running the service for
the Clyde Cruising Club in Scotland during the season starting @ the
Bell lawrie Scottish Series and will also cover all their events. It is
the plan to send out the Sigma 33 results from both the North and the
South to all the Sigma 33 subscribers of the service, this way you will
be able to monitor who is your competition to watch out for during the
Nationals and other major regatta's both North and South of the border.
The Scottish Sigma 33 service will be
launched later this week. As this is a new service I would like any feed
back GOOD or BAD or any idea's that the group might have or like to see
it used for? So what do u think? Is this the longest group e-mail ever
sent?....cheers Iain Hurrel (Pepsi crew) You can see more about the
service at
