Sigma One Day Regatta Series

Is the Trophy cabinet looking a bit bare?

Do you

Need to practice your starting strategy?
Need to train up new or existing crew?
Need to work out what to do at the first mark?

Need spinnaker practice?
Want to have a go at racing for the first time?

The Sigma 33 One Day Regattas are definitely for you.

Quite simply, each of the Cowes Yacht Clubs organises racing for us either from a shoreline start and then we have two races a day around the cans. Otherwise racing is from a Committee boat where the Clubs organise a start line and sets (usually) a windward/leeward course lasting 40 – 60 minutes. Then counts us all back again up to four times during the day. The good news is that if you win only one of these days and come to the Class’ Annual Prizegiving event, pick up a trophy and everyone will cheer.

The best new of all is that there is very little navigation involved, you focus on crew work and tactics alone and these races count towards the Newcomers Trophy, so there is everything to play for.

The all-important dates – it’s once a month (ish) and the ski-ing is over by then:

10 May Lucent Trophy
11 May Scurry Bowl
21 June Sigmatic Trophy
26 July Ichenor Tankard
27 September David Bates Trophy

The overall winner wins the Network Yacht Brokers Trophy.

All you have to do is to download the Notice of Race and book with the Class Secretary.
